How do I get my loved one into your nursing home facility?
If you believe it’s time for you or a loved one to enter
long term care, the first step is receiving a referral through the primary care physician or medical setting, such as a hospital.
A packet can be picked up at our facility or it can be faxed to the physician. If you have any questions about the admissions process, please contact us and we’ll be happy to walk you through!
Is there a waiting list for elder care?
Currently, the facility does not have a waiting list for long-term admissions.
However, this may change at any time. In cases where admissions requests are high, we may need to establish a waiting list to ensure we have adequate room to offer you or your loved one the best care possible.
How do we get a private room?
Private rooms are based on medical necessity and availability. In addition to our standard rooms, our facility consists of 83 private rooms for those with specific needs.
How will I pay for my stay at Lenawee Medical Care Facility?
Payment will vary depending on your insurance coverage.
Medicare:
Medicare Part A or Medicare Advantage (i.e. Medicare plus Blue, Priority Health Advantage, etc.) will cover up to
100 days of skilled nursing home care. If you require skilled care (i.e. therapy) and continue to make progress, Medicare will continue to pay. Once it has been determined that you have reached your highest functional level, Medicare coverage will end. Medicare Advantage plans are heavily involved in your stay at the nursing facility and they instruct the facility when your coverage will end. Depending on the length of your stay you may be responsible for a co-pay. We will verify your coverages prior to admission and inform you of any co-pays.
Medicaid:
Medicaid is the primary insurance coverage utilized by our long-term care elders. Medicaid coverage in the nursing home is very different than outside the nursing home. Because the majority of your needs are provided by the facility you will have a patient pay amount owed to the facility each month. This patient pay amount is decided by the Department of Health and Human Services, is based on your monthly income, and eligible expenses and will leave you with $60 per month for personal items.
Does Medicare pay for 100 days of skilled nursing home care?
Typically, Medicare will not pay for care for such a long duration at full coverage.
Medicare Part A may cover up to 100 days. If you require skilled care (i.e. therapy) and continue to make progress, Medicare will cover this. Once it has been determined that you have reached your highest functional level, Medicare coverage will end.
Medicare covers days 1-20 at 100%, for days 21 up to 100 there is a co-pay, which your co-insurance may cover. Please contact our billing department for questions regarding co-pays.
What is the Elder-to-staff ratio?
Our staffing varies throughout the week according to household needs and our shift schedule. We are always staffed above the state required regulations for staffing.
We take great pride in ensuring everyone in our facility receives the utmost care, which begins with our primary staffing policy of always having more than enough
staff
on hand to handle any needs or emergencies.
Do you have visiting hours?
There are no specific visiting hours. You can visit your loved one at any time! We highly recommend planning your visit between the hours of 11:00 am and 8:00 pm. This will allow you to easily check-in and visit your loved ones.
The front entrance is locked between the hours of 9:00 pm and 7:00 am. If you would like to visit during these hours, there is a doorbell that can be rung for staff to come let a visitor in.
Who will be my physician while I am at your facility?
We have a physician that practices at our facility to provide medical care during your stay. We also have a nurse practitioner and/or physician assistant in the building providing care 5 days per week.
Residents who require visits with specialists will travel to the hospital or the physician’s office for these appointments.
Upon discharge, your primary care physician will be notified and sent a discharge packet with information regarding your stay.
Can you accommodate a request for a special diet?
We work with all residents on an individual basis to meet their dietary needs or requirements.
One benefit of the
dining rooms
inside each household living area is the ability for the Elder to select from a variety of meal choices each day.
If you believe you or a loved one has a unique dietary requirement, allergy or other concern, we can accommodate their diet to ensure they achieve their nutritional needs.
Can I join my Elder to eat during mealtime?
Of course! If you’re visiting, you may bring in a meal to eat with the Elder.
Please keep in mind that our facility does not provide meals for visitors.
Can we bring our pet to visit also?
We welcome all family members for visitation, including your pets! However, please keep the following in mind:
- All visiting pets must be on a leash.
- Our facility includes household pets that are beloved companions for those in our care and our staff. They are allowed to wander freely through the community, so we appreciate that you closely watch your pet to avoid potential disruptions within the community.
